USDA CONTACT NOTIFICATION

blog-detail

EWCO has obtained a Food Contact Notification (FCN) 1811 from the FDA for using its electrolytically generated Electrolyzed Oxidizing Water (EOW) as an antimicrobial agent in an aqueous solution in the production and preparation of whole or cut meat and poultry; processed and preformed meat and poultry; fish and seafood; fruits and vegetables; and shell eggs. A potable water rinse is not required after use.

A food contact notification (FCN) is the primary method by which the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates food additives that are food contact substances (FCSs). An FCS is any substance that is intended for use as a component of materials used in manufacturing, packing, packaging, transporting, or holding food if such use of the substance is not intended to have any technical effect in such food.

Notifications for an FCS must contain sufficient scientific information to demonstrate that the substance that is the subject of the notification is safe for the intended use.

Since 2014 the USDA's National Organic Program has recognized the use of electrolyzed water under the U.S.

Department of Agriculture organization's regulations. In fact, the National Organic Handbook includes guidance that clarifies the allowable uses of chlorine products under USDA organic regulations.

In fact, there are multiple uses for disinfection and sanitization in the production of meat, poultry, and egg products.

DISINFECTION & STERILIZATION OF HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

blog-detail

The CDC recognizes electrolyzed water, also called "super-oxidized water," and the microbiocidal activity of Electrolyzed Oxidizing Water (EOW) in its guidelines for disinfection and sterilization in healthcare facilities.

Since October 2002, when the FDA cleared super oxidized water as a high-level disinfectant, EOW has been in use for the disinfection and sanitization of healthcare facilities.

According to the CDC "(EOW) has been tested against bacteria, mycobacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. Freshly generated super-oxidized water is rapidly effective (<2 minutes) in achieving a 5-log10 reduction of pathogenic microorganisms (i.e., M. tuberculosis, M. chelonae, poliovirus, HIV, multidrug-resistant S. aureus, E. coli, Candida albicans, Enterococcus faecalis, P. aeruginosa) in the absence of organic loading." The CDC also notes that /"(EOW's) end-product does not damage the environment. "

Recent lab tests on the effects of EWCO-generated EOW on COVID-19 show a complete kill of the pathogen at a concentration of 130PPM.
